Paintings

Being an artist is about putting something into your subject matter that isn’t inherently there.  You are not at the mercy of your subject matter, it’s the content, and what you put into it, what you do with it, what you extract from it, and what you put it with, that is so exciting.”  (quote from an interview with Robert Hodgins).

These words capture how I feel about painting.  I am fortunate to live in an area surrounded by Nature, where my studio overlooks a small wetland.  Nature is ever-present and a constant source of inspiration, always in my sensory view.  Each one of the paintings in the collections below is nature-inspired.
